As per <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">age verification law<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 18 US Code 2257, porn producers are required to age records of the porn actors while shooting the video. Porn site owners have to make sure that each individual involved in porn videos uploaded on their website must be above 18 years old when the adult content was shot.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently PornHub, which is one of the most visited pornographic websites in the world, had to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2024\/03\/14\/texas-pornhub-5th-circuit-age-verification-paxton\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">suspend its service in Texas<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> over <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">age verification requirements law<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A total of seven states passed laws last year requiring users to provide proof of legal age, i.e., eighteen, in order to access pornographic websites. Dozens of other states have also joined hands to require pornographic site users to show proof of their legal age. If this trend continues, it will create a multi-state firewall that keeps kids off of pornographic websites.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><h2><b>Pornography laws of Canada, Germany, Australia, and the UK:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2><h3><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Canada<\/span><\/strong><\/h3><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the Criminal Code, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/acts\/c-46\/section-163.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">RSC 1985, c. C-46<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, anyone commits a crime if they produce, distribute or circulate obscene materials. Even storing obscene materials with the intention of making them public in the future is considered a criminal offense. Also, viewing <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">written or audio material displaying or depicting a person under 18 engaging in sexual activity or showing their genitals is a criminal offense.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/canada\/article-senate-bill-would-require-age-verification-for-canadians-accessing\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bill S-210 passed the Senate<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it was referred to a House of Commons committee for review by MPs from the New Democrats, Bloc Quebecois, and Conservative parties. The founders of PornHub are thinking of stopping their services in Canada after the bill becomes an act. They consider it the most logical thing to do as the Act can severely harm the traffic on their site.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revenge porn is a<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> criminal offense in Canada and has been so far for a decade. Criminal Code <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/acts\/C-46\/section-162.1.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">RSC 1985, c. C-46<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Canada refers to the distribution of someone else\u2019s intimate image without their consent is considered revenge porn.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><h3><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Germany\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gesetze-im-internet.de\/englisch_stgb\/englisch_stgb.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strafgesetzbuch (Criminal Code), sections 184 to 184d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, regulates pornography-related compliance in Germany. Publishing or distributing explicit content is considered a criminal offense under the 184 section. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A person who distributes pornographic content is liable to prosecution. The age of the recipient is irrelevant here. If a person receives a pornographic image without having given their prior consent, this constitutes a criminal offense.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under section 184b (1), whoever organizes a presentation of child pornography incurs a penalty. Under section 184c (1), whoever organizes a presentation of youth pornography also incurs a penalty. Apart from that, under sections 184b (3) and 184c (3), whoever attends a presentation of child or youth pornography incurs a penalty.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apart from that, the spreading of explicit images of one\u2019s partner is legally punishable by German criminal codes. Many such cases are coming these days where ex-partners leak or spread intimate videos or images of their partners.\u00a0 In such cases, the German govt. has issued strict laws to get unconsented content removed from any online platform.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, removing the image or video is not sufficient, as the damage is already done after the video has been published. The victim can ask the culprit to pay a fine for spreading their explicit content without the victim\u2019s consent. Victims can also file a complaint against the platform and demand a damage fee as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">compensation for the pain and suffering of the victim in the event of a severe violation of the right of personality.<\/span><\/p><h3><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Australia\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pornography laws in Australia are governed by various federal and state statutes, including the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.classification.gov.au\/about-us\/legislation#:~:text=The%20Classification%20(Publications%2C%20Films%20and,and%20the%20Classification%20Review%20Board\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Classification (Publications, Films, and Computer Games) Act 1995<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Australia\u2019s<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2018Enhancing Online Safety Act of 2015 and the Criminal Code Amendment (Private Sexual Material) Act of 2018,\u2019 makes it illegal to share intimate images without consent at the federal level.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fines and imprisonment can be imposed on those who break the law.
